About Tyrone Williams
Tyrone is a seasoned political strategist, legislative leader, and public commentator whose work is grounded in both lived experience and a deep commitment to equity, access, and community voice.
With extensive experience across the Virginia General Assembly, he has served as Chief of Staff and Senior Advisor in multiple legislative offices, as well as supporting House leadership. His government service is complemented by a dynamic campaign background, where he has led high-impact voter engagement strategies, coalition-building efforts, and fundraising operations at the local, state, and national levels.
As Coalitions Director for the Spanberger for Governor campaign, Tyrone spearheaded a comprehensive Black voter engagement strategy, mobilizing faith leaders, elected officials, and grassroots organizations to expand civic participation and strengthen community trust. Previously, as Virginia African American Outreach Director for the Harris-Walz Presidential campaign, he directed more than 35 large-scale engagement events, helping drive increased voter turnout across the Commonwealth.
Beyond campaigns and government, Tyrone is a respected public voice on politics and civic engagement. In 2025, he served as a political moderator for multiple town halls, offering insight on the issues shaping the Commonwealth. He has moderated high-profile panels, including at the 2024 Eastern Regional Conference, and led forums centered on voting rights and democratic participation. In 2023, he served as a political commentator and spokesperson for political clients, while continuing to facilitate conversations on voter access and engagement.
A proud alumnus of the Sorensen Institute for Civic Leadership, Tyrone continues to refine his strengths in storytelling, messaging, and public engagement. Across every role, he remains dedicated to advancing policies, building coalitions, and amplifying voices to shape a more equitable and inclusive future.
Tyrone resides in Richmond, Virginia with his wife Ashley Belton-Williams.
